Starting in any career can be difficult – and teaching is no different.
Principals Australia Institute (PAI) works with school leadership teams as they develop environments to support graduate teachers in the early period of their career, and develop the next generation of school leaders.
Research clearly shows that teacher retention is improved when early career teachers are supported by policies and practices, learning environments, school culture, relationships and opportunities to develop a sense of teacher identity.
PAI is committed to supporting school leaders to foster the early career of teachers through its involvement in two key initiatives:
- Graduate and Grow - our program to help leaders support graduate teachers
- Retaining Quality Teachers - a national research study about the role of school leaders on retaining early career teachers in which the Institute is a partner.
